USB Camera (MD740) with Open Dental

Post by manuva » Fri Nov 19, 2021 12:15 pm

Hi,

I am trying to use the (new for me) OD feature to acquire IntraOral camera (MD740B) pictures with OD. It works well with Apteryx XRayVision and with the software that came with the camera.
However, with OD, I get 2 problems:
1. The lag to show the image is about 3 seconds. There is no lag with other softwares.
2. Image capture via button in the window works, but, I couldn't get the hardware button on the camera to work.

FYI: my office does have OD support.

For now, I am continuing to use Apteryx XRayVision (sunk cost of over 2k), but, I would like to move to OD for IntraOral pictures.
Thanks!

Do you mean the live video is laggy or that the single image capture is laggy?

Video is laggy. Though, I am testing from home, the local PC is connecting via VPN to the office router.

I'd happy to mail a camera to you if it helps with OD testing / feature development.

We tested on a PD740, which looks pretty much the same as your MD740 and is probably the same hardware inside. Our camera came with driver software that will generate a keyboard button press when the Capture button is pressed. There's a link to the software in our manual.

I've added the MD740 issue on the page above. I'll also test it again to see if something has changed.
