Rolling back to previous version

Post by Roy Bloom » Mon Mar 24, 2008 3:29 pm

I downloaded a trial version 5.1 I think. Does not really help me for what I do. How do I roll back to the previous version?

from your backup

if you don't have one, it's not easy. You would have to have some manual database work...only Jordan could do that for you...

but...why go back? Familiarity? No features are ever "lost," and things only get better as time goes on. We are already using v5.6 in our office and it is working great. Lots of improvements in the last few versions...

Yes, I am sure I have multiple backups on flash drives all over the place. I guess I did not want to update because I do not see how it would help me. All I do is IV sedation, extractions and endo if they need sedation. I only work as an independant contractor at other offices throughout Texas. I do not file insurance, I do not accept assignment and I have a limited list of codes I use. There are some neat things I would like to see that would encourage me to resubscribe. A web based program would be one. The ability to email prescriptions from within OD to a pharmacy. The ability of a patient to email me directly in OD. A bridge to Outlook. Something that would allow me to sync mobile email and dates to OD appointment book. As it is now I have three appointment books. There are other things I am sure. I just use so little of OD. Mostly to record notes and scan in ECG keep track of Meds used etc.

I was in the process of using this computer as a back up. This computer was the server when I had a stationary office. I wanted to roll it back and save as an image so I could pull up the exe files and all the data etc files before I wiped it clean. The data is 2 years old.....has not been used in two years. I want to be able to sync the laptop with this and create backups via bluetooth.

I was hoping to just run an exe. file to convert back to my old version. It was a big change as I had to change mysql etc. I am still working on the version before the procedure code issue.

To go back to a previous version you have to uninstall the new version first. Then reinstall the old version (you need to get it from a backup). When it asks you to select the database, select the one named opendentalbackupdate. Where I wrote date should be the date when you updated to the newer version.
