How to handle a patient with 3 dental insurance plans?

Post by rhaber123 » Fri Nov 27, 2020 6:35 pm

I posted this question on Open Dental Facebook page, and I would like to hear from Open Dental now on how to handle a patient with 3 insurance plans, if you are in network or out of network provider.

When a patient has 3 insurance plan, we can enter these 3 insurance in OD. They will have their own order in OD, it will be order one, two, and three.

We submit the claims to the primary, and to the secondary, but how to submit to the tertiary?

OD does not allow us to create a claim for the tertiary that shows the two previous plans, or how to handle the treatment plans and the estimated patient portions.

Any guidance from OD will be appreciated

I think you can edit the teriary claim to show that info even though it's not automatic.
