Camera for Patient ID Photo

Post by genebrabston » Tue Aug 04, 2020 7:39 am

How do I seamlessly take a headshot of a patient at the counter and import it into their file for ID purposes? Recommendation for a mount on the counter camera?

Thanks,

Gene B

Check out IOC Snapshot by Justin Shafer

Let's you take import a photo wirelessly from your iPhone or Android directly into OD.

If you have a web camera with a TWAIN driver connected to your work station, you can take patient photos in Open Dental's Imaging Module. First, in the Setup menu, under Imaging, click "Scanning". On the Scanning Setup window, check the "Show Select Scanner Window" checkbox. On the Imaging Module, select the Patient Pictures folder and click the Scan button to activate the camera and take photos directly to the Patient Pictures folder. Photos taken outside of Open Dental can also be imported by selecting the Patient Pictures folder and clicking the Import button.

Camera for Patient ID Photo

We got a USB webcam on Ebay ( good resolution) $50 - and IOC SNAPSHOT plugin $29.99 - Total $79.99
The webcam is installed and connected to the front office / receptionit computer.

When a patient arrives:
1- my receptionist run IOC snaphot,
2- hold the webcam , and ask the patient to look at the webcam, and smile,
3- and she takes the picture,
4- The patient photo will be saved in the "Photos" folder in IMAGES. You need to drag it and put it in the "Patient Pictures" folder
DONE!

Now, when you hover over the patient name you can see their photos in the appointment module.
No need to save in different folders and import back in OD.

You can use IOC snaphot with any camera that you already have in your office, an iphone, an android, ipad, a tablet, etc....
IOC Snapshot has many other features too. For more info: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6454
