Unearned Income

Post by oraldoc » Sun Aug 02, 2020 11:06 am

I really do not understand how unearned income works. Income is basically either from a patient or insurance. Even if you got paid up front prior to work being completed, the payment would be associated with a particular patient. That being said, is there a way to eliminate tallying unearned income so income is only shown from patients or insurance? It really screws up daily and monthly reports to see this amount on them and not knowing which sources it belongs to.

You can turn a setting on that allows you to apply payments to treatment planned procedures. Payments created this way do not show as unearned income. On the setup menu, click "Account", then check the "Allow prepayments to allocate to treatment planned procedures" checkbox. When creating a patient payment with that setting on, you can click the "Treat Plan" tab on the Payment window and choose treatment planned procedures to apply the prepayment to.
