eClipboard's Mobile Devices > Device Name

Post by Scott » Fri Jul 03, 2020 2:44 pm

Hi,
Is it possible to change the name or assign an alias name for a mobile device? The purpose being to make it easily identifiable in the Kiosk Manager. As in "Blue Tablet", "Green Tablet", "Tablet #1", etc.

Regards,
Scott

This name should be pulled in from the device's name in your device's settings. There have been few times where this has not pulled in correctly, such as on Kindle Fire's. Other than that, there is currently no way to nickname a device.

Hi, It doesn't seem that OD is picking up our tablets names. We have three Lenovo Tab M10 Plus FHD tablets that were released last month. They are running nearly stock Android 9. We've tried changing the name under System > About tablet > Device Name, and that didn't change anything in OD. We tried deleting and rejoining the tablet and that didn't change anything. OD has the device name for all three as "Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus" with a long alphanumeric string in parentheses under that. We can't find anywhere on the tablet settings that has the string "Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus". We have added votes to feature request 11063 - Ability to rename tablets using eClipboard.

Thank you
