gmail problem

Post by serenityfamilydental » Mon Jun 15, 2020 9:00 am

Hi, we just re-open today. found out that we cannot send email via open dental. We setup Gmail in open dental. This morning, we got error message

Error message from the email client was:
The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x80040217. The server response was not available

I did turn on access for less secure app in google account. Still have this problem.

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks,

Hello. There are a variety of things that can cause this error. The most common are the "less secure apps" setting which you already addressed and issues with the password that is entered in Open Dental. You may have done this already, but I would confirm that the password entered in Open Dental is up to date by going to Setup > Manage > E-mail and double clicking on the email address in question. Then, reenter the password for the email account. If your version of Open Dental is 19.4.15 or greater, gmail accounts are authorized via access token. You may want to try clearing the token and clicking the "Sign in with Google" button again to obtain a new token. If you have already tried these steps and are still having issues, please contact support at 503-363-5432 for further assistance.
