medical e-claims

Post by steveng » Wed Jun 27, 2007 8:32 am

We're getting ready for a periodontist to join our team and he asked us if we process medical claims.
I know that OD is able to process medical forms. What about processing them electronically?
We're currently process our dental e-claims through Emdeon . This clearinghouse is also able to process medical claims, however I was told that we’re setup to only process dental.
Does anyone use medical e-claims through OD? THow does one setup CPT codes.
Online manual does not have enough information about it.
Thanks,
Steven G.

The Emdeon medical claims section is pretty much a separate company, despite the same name. So we have to start all over with contacting them, figuring out the upload process, etc. A better bet might be Tesia, which uses one clearinghouse to do both medical and dental. We're just coming on line with them over the next week or two. They are also big like Emdeon, an actual clearinghouse rather than some sort of value added reseller of services.

This is great. I'll check them out.
