Windows 10 as server

Post by Drjstivers » Wed Apr 08, 2020 12:03 pm

I am about to switch to Open Dental. With my current PMS software I am running Windows Server 2008, which is no longer supported. There is no direct upgrade to Windows Server 2019, so I would have to buy Server 2012, 2016 and 2019, which I don't want to do.

How well does Windows 10 work as the server for Open Dental? Does one of the Win Servers work better?

Hi John. It mostly depends on how many work stations will be accessing the server at the same time and what hardware the server has. A Windows 10 server can be sufficient for 1 to 10 work stations. Our website has more details about server requirements at the following link: https://www.opendental.com/resources/Ha ... ements.pdf

You'll be fine as long as it's the Pro version.
