Lighthouse 360 vs Open Dental Texting

Post by genebrabston » Sat Jul 14, 2018 6:22 pm

We currently use Lighthouse 360 for patient contact management. Appointment reminders are sent via text, email, etc. Lighthouse does have a few extras such as email newsletters, eblast etc. Can texting from Open Dental rival what Lighthouse does for our office.

Thanks,

Gene

We prefer the text reminders with open dental (we had yapi before). We have found people are starting to text the office rather than call and all communication goes in the chart. We do post op texts and ask for reviews. We did not like the recall text function with Open Dental. First, when the patient gets reminded through a text they are taken off of the list of overdue patients for recall for a time. This is done so the patient isn't repeatedly reminded, but we also send out postcards etc. so we didn't like that we lost our list. Second, we've had a lot of success with manually texting patients on recall and personalizing the message with upcoming availability in the schedule . People can tell it's not auto generated and it is working. It has gotten the word out that people can text us instead of calling us. I use text way more in my everyday life more than calling someone, so I think it makes sense to have text option. It is also quite a bit less expensive.

So Gene....
What did you end up doing?
I, too, have Lighthouse and would like to switch to OD Text.
Don't need all the Lighthouse bells and whistles.
Cheers!!

I am considering changing from Lighthouse 360 to Open Dental as well. Any thoughts from those who have experienced both?

I cancelled our LightHouse when i switched from EagleSoft.
OD options are not as robust but they work and you save more than 300 per month, you centralize everything in the software and it becomes easier to manage.
You just have to go and setup your text and email options very carefully. If you are not tech saavy, and don't have the stomach for trial and errors, then maybe you should stick with LightHouse.
It took me a month to set everything properly

We started using http://www.hrdsq.com recently. Had a few bugs to work out, but now that we have it going, it seems to work nicely. They are great to work with too. Will listen to your ideas and even implement them if feasible! (They already did on some of my ideas)

I'm looking for the same now too.
Would like to hear from the people who integrated texting and also other mobile services.
The time has come for my website to be re-made, so I wanted to make sure I write the project for the web designer clearly from beginning. I was wondering if anyone implemented online appointments requests on their websites and if that was a good experience.
Basically, looking to plug in as much of useful mobile OD features with the new website as possible.
Also, anyone cares to share text templates on how you follow up with patients after appointments?
