How do you view apteryx images inside of open Dental v 17.4?

I'm not very familiar with this specific bridge but could you manually import the image files into the patients Image module? Based on what I see in the documentation I do not think there is a automatic way to do this (http://opendental.com/manual/bridgeapteryx.html). If automatic import is something you would want then you could submit a feature request!

Once you are signed up for the XVWeb service, you go to the XVWeb bridge within Open Dental and select a folder to display the Apteryx images in. This page gives a little more detail: http://opendental.com/manual/XVWebIntegration.html.

So as far as i see this is more like a way to share xrays between multiple clinics with the same owner? We got apteryx right now and just use the bridge to open the images in open dental. Trying to figure out the reason behind this bridge?

Most of our bridges simply pass/share the currently selected patients information with the 3rd party software. So when you click the bridge button in OD we pass the currently selected patients info to the other software and they insert the information into their database and select that patient automatically when their software opens. Anything beyond that would be a feature request.

Niels, this integration with Apteryx would work equally well with multiple clinics as the existing Apteryx bridge. The key advantage with the new integration is that the x-rays now show up directly within the image module of Open Dental so you don't have to deal with the overhead of opening up another program.

Very cool! Why can't we do this with normal Apteryx though??? I am sure they will give you the password to the STB files to go into the OD source code... Or... maybe not. :D

A wrapper.. that would work.

I believe that you do need to be signed up for XVWeb Viewer, but I would double check with them. If you do get a definitive answer, I would appreciate it if you posted that on this post so we would know!

I would be curious if it would work with regular apteryx as well. webviewer you have to pay for. It basically transfer your images to the cloud and then this bridge lets tou view them in open dental. Would be much faster and easier if it allowed just directly from the server locally. And save money.

The apteryx images do have to be in the cloud for them to be viewed in Open Dental. We download the images from the cloud through their API to display them in the images module.

Well.. at least we have the code to display the images in the chart.. now all we need is some reverse engineering to grab the images from Apteryx. :D
