Ohio requiring ICD10 or procedure code on opioid Rx
Ohio requiring ICD10 or procedure code on opioid Rx
Our attorney general is trying to get a handle on opioid addiction. Now we have Rule 4729-5-30 from the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy that says you need either the full CDT code or the first 4 characters of the ICD-10 code printed on all prescriptions for opioids.
Wanted to put an input text field on the Rx sheet to allow entering this info (which may vary from patient to patient) on the fly, but it doesn't give the opportunity before printing. We're thinking about which editable field to put it in: Drug name, Disp, Refills or Sig.

I also need help with this. How do I do this?

http://www.opendental.com/manual/erxohio.htmlControlled substances: Ohio requires that prescriptions for controlled substances include a CDT procedure code. We are currently working to link the prescription to the procedure code in Open Dental. In the meantime, here are two possible solutions.
Add a static text field, surrounded by a rectangle box, then handwrite the CDT code once it is printed.
Add ServiceNote as a Static Text Field then enter the procedure code in the service note field of the Medical area. The downside is that you may have to clear out any other service notes you have already entered and clear the code after printing the prescription.
The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.

Thank you, please let me know when the procedure code is linked.
Re: Ohio requiring ICD10 or procedure code on opioid Rx
I believe this has been completed in version 17.4.33 of Open Dental. That version is currently beta, but you may update to it if you critically need this feature.
Re: Ohio requiring ICD10 or procedure code on opioid Rx
Procedure code is linked but it doesn't allow you to enter the the ICD10 code only the Treatment code . Nevada is requiring the ICD10 code be on the Rx. The days of supply is linked and the number is entered manually it would be better if is was setup when the prescription is setup ( one less thing to do when writing the Rx
Re: Ohio requiring ICD10 or procedure code on opioid Rx
Right, I see that is will only print the D code and not the ICD10 code. I will look into this and get back to you.
Re: Ohio requiring ICD10 or procedure code on opioid Rx
From what I've heard, the ICD10 code is supposed to override the ProcCode if it is present on the procedure. If that isn't happening for you, call in to support and we'll take a look at it.
