Discount Plan set up

Post by babysilvertooth » Wed Aug 16, 2017 12:19 pm

HI All,
I am on the 17 version of OD. I have set up a few patients with Discount plan module, and the information to set up for my patients with the plan. IS there a way to have the plan show benefit period? Since it is based on when the patient buys it, would be a nice way to track it. Also, how to add a field on the appointment view so staff can see if the patient is part of the plan or not (I have it set up to show the patients insurance, but not sure how to get this discount plan to show).

Also, I see OD reocmmends to zero out hyginee fees under the memberhsip plan fee schedule. But that would skew how I keep track of production for hygienists if it shows as zero (unless you know another way to keep track of it for staff).

Thanks

Could you clarify what you mean? When you say "Discount plan module" do you mean that for a patient, in the Family Module, you give them a Discount Plan instead of a normal insurance plan? If that is the case, the discount plan doesn't have any sort of date on it. I'm also not sure what you mean by showing if a patient is part of "the plan" or not. It is a fairly new feature so we're certainly open to suggestions!

So when you have an in office 'membership plan', that is the "Discount plan', where it can be set up like insurance for purposes of giving the patients a discount.
So, like regular insurance, it would be nice to have a section where you could add their 'start date' so we can see when they have to renew. Second, in the appointment view module, there is an area to indicate the patient's insurance, so it would be nice to be able to see that as well while in appointment module.

Ah okay. Those seem like pretty good suggestions, I'll see what we can do. It may turn into a feature request in which case I'll post back here and get you (and others) to vote on it.

Take a look at request 5741 and vote on it!

Request 5741 shows as completed with update 18.2.1.0. We are running 18.3.39.0, but I do not see where the start date can be added or where the plan shows up in the Appointment Module. Can you explain if this is a setting that needs to be turned on?

The start date was not added as part of that request. I will look into creating another request for adding the start date and have the 5741 request changed to reflect what was actually completed.

The plan showing in the appointment module is done and is available to edit in two places.

Another vote on getting a date assigned to the Discount Plan, although I'd push for an end date rather than an effective date as described below. The workflow is as follows: Patient walks in the door on 2/1/2019 and signs up for the discount plan. Two weeks later the husband walks in and signs up for the plan. Wife should have an effective date of the discount plan of 2/1/2019 and husband should have an effective date of 2/15/2019. These are annual renewal plans, so the end date would be 12 months from effective date. I've heard of some offices doing a calendar year plan, so perhaps using the end date rather than a start date would satisfy more use cases. Could have the end date default to 12 months from the date the membership plan gets added to the patient account, but make it an editable field so it could be updated to 12/31/xx if needed. Would also be easy to extend it a year if/when the patient renews the plan each year.

For the Report/Discount Plan List: Please add this end date to the query. Please also add clinic to the query since it's helpful for us, and super easy if you're in there editing the query anyways.

Looking through the feature requests, #5597 seems the closest to what we're looking for.
