Do you think OD needs a tab for Dental History?

Post by Rickliftig » Thu Apr 20, 2017 10:35 am

So a funny thing - Open Dental's medical history system work pretty well. Does anyone in the group feel that the program could use a dental history tab?

I'd say the Chart module is pretty extensive for that subject matter. Especially now that we have a slider under the tooth chart itself so that it can be visualized easier. Is there something specific that you need to document about the dental history that there isn't currently a place to do so?
The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.

Good question Jason . Actually, this morning, a new patient came in with a fairly detailed dental history which we documented on paper... and that's simple enough. I think that this could be a new TAB on the medical HX
  • But some of the items would be:

    -Previous dentist's name, address, phone
    -Date of last visit
    -Hx of surgery, orthodontics, periodontics
-Were xrays and records obtained from the previous dentist, y or n?
-Dates of major dental work ie, implants, crowns, endo
    -Chief Complaint today
-Issues with previous work or dentists
A lot of this could be done with an autonote... and maybe I'll work on that.

******* And this reminded me - of course, we can share sheets - can you think of a way to share autonotes?

That would be the best feature, ever!

You could also use an Exam Sheet, and that way, it'd be REALLY easy to find (and share).

Arna - I'm still lobbying for a mouse-over feature or a pop-up type of box that shows what exam sheets, or consent sheets are active. Similarly a pop-up or mouse-over with the perio chart that shows the most recent probing date. Rarely do I click on those tabs, so I never know what is lurking - Even a box with a number on it (like the tasks tab or the text tab would help). I had to give up on feature requests long ago because I had so few points left (it's FR 4125).

And you are right, an exam sheet would be an appropriate place for this info.

best,

Rick
