SEND SECURED & ENCRYPTED EMAILS
KevinRossen wrote:I just signed up for Sendinc today based on suggestions above and I can tell you it's incredibly easy to use. I have no affiliation with them and I've been using their service for about 12 hours, so don't take this as the final word, but my initial results are very promising. For just $5/mo or $48/yr you get encrypted email sending that's as easy to setup in Open Dental as any other email.

The Free Basic plan from Sendinc.com allows 20 recipients per day , otherwise the Pro Plan cost $5/month. we signed up for the Pro

I like that workflow and form, Richard - I think I'll grab that from you. On your suggestion and also my local referrals, I started using Sendinc and it is just a breeze for the patients and myself to use.

OD staff - Please check out Sendinc - it has been much easier to implement than the secure e-mail through you. Perhaps, because it is stand-alone, it is clearer in its implementation. Also, I don't have to forward usernames and passwords to insure set-up of an account - that's a biggie).

best,

Rick

Re: FREE ENCRYPTED EMAIL SERVICE - from inside Open Dental

SEND SECURED & ENCRYPTED EMAILS FROM INSIDE OPEN DENTAL NOW

Minh at Mopensoft.com created a new plugin, the SMTP plugin, that allows you to use 2 different email providers from inside Open Dental at the same time.
1- You can use the existing email provider that is already setup in OD (Gmail for example)
2- and you can setup a second email provider ( Sendinc or Verizon for example)

The new SMTP plugin allows you to switch between both email providers EASILY.

The new SMTP plugin allows you to SEND Emails ONLY from inside OD, and it saves a copy of the email sent in the patient chart, but it does not receive any emails inside open dental . When your patient replies, the reply goes to your original email provider inbox. So no email is lost.

I am using it now to send ENCRYPTED Emails from inside OD through Sendinc but you can use your own email provider if you know their SMTP settings

You can download the plugin from here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vs3gjz1g7ca3 ... FF9ja?dl=0
and place it in your OD folder (C / program files(x86)/OpenDental)

o Launch OpenDental
o Go to Setup\Program links
o Click the button "Add" to add new program link

o Enter this information:
Description: Mopensoft SMTP
Enabled: check
text on button: ENCRYPT (or write your own text)
plug-in dll name: mopensoft.odplugins.smtp.dll
ALL MODULES
save it and quit Open Dental

Additional Properties will not show up when you first add the plugin. You need to restart OpenDental to be able to see and edit "Additional Properties"
After you quit Open dental and come back to Set up / Program links / Mopensoft SMTP/ , now you can enter the SMTP properties:

by checking or unchecking the check mark next to the "use Alternative SMTP server" you can switch between both email providers.

The plugin is still in Beta version, so it is FREE to try. It will work with OD versions 16.2 or higher since Open Dental have changed the dot net framework from 4 to 4.5 in OD v16.2
If you get any error message, contact Minh and he will fix any bug that you may have.
If you want to use the plugin in an older version of OD, you can contact Minh info@mopensoft.com and he will be able to make these special changes for you

NOTE: Remind your patients, once they are reading your encrypted email, to REPLY from inside SENDINC, so their reply is encrypted

******
1- Click the "REPLY" button above,
2- Click the "SEND SECURE" button , to send us your information
note: This Email will self destruct in 7 days.

For people that has been using this with sendin does it seem to work pretty well. We use virtru for encryption but our subscription is up and would be much easier to do it if we could just use open dental for this.

Work very well with NEW PATIENTS. Most of them complete their REGISTRATION, before their appointment.
Sendinc is very SIMPLE, and easy to use, for any needed ENCRYPTED Emails. No hassle to create usernames or special passwords.
A copy of all ENCRYPTED emails sent to patients is kept in their charts.

The new SMTP plugin allows you to switch between two email providers ( ie..Gmail and Sendinc) EASILY

It is always good to try. It is FREE.

I found out about Sendinc after reading this thread on the forum:

Rickliftig wrote:Hi jason - Thanks for asking! The Sendinc model has been a piece of cake to use. I receive an e-mail that says "there is a sendinc secure message waiting for you", then I set up a simple account with sendinc (password and user name) and retrieve it. Any time I return to sendinc, or get a secure message is waiting message, I can sign in and see a list of the messages. Again, it's mainly the assigning of username and passwords that is really annoying - plus, since the passwords are not simple, there is always the likelihood of typing it incorrectly and haveing to spend x minutes on the phone "type lower case, uppercase, number..........." You get the idea.

Also, adding attachments is a piece of cake. You should check it out.

Best,

Rick

Hersheydmd wrote:but I recently began using SENDINC (sendinc.com). They have an Outlook add-on, which has been working great for me. I started using it to communicate with my accountant and several specialists. It is very easy for the receiver to quickly set up an account and password so they can continue receiving encrypted email from you.
They have three very reasonable plans: Free (limited message size, storage & retention), $5/month for one user, $25/month for five or more users. It is also simple enough to use with a patient if you are sending them PHI.
I occasionally receive e-mails from Virtru. They require you to click a link every time which opens a webpage. In the webpage you have to click a link that sends you an e-mail. You have to wait for the e-mail and then click the link e-mail to confirm that it is your e-mail. You can then open the secure message. I prefer Sendinc.com. It is simpler
