Online patient payments on your website

Post by noestervemb » Tue Feb 28, 2017 5:20 pm

We are getting our new website up and running and we want to be able to do online payments. Has anybody used open dentals solutions that automatically lets you import it into open dental? It matches the patient based on name and date of birth. Any comments or is anybody using something else?

Open Dental provides, through the Patient Portal, a means for your patients to make payments online at no additional cost to you. It does require that you use the merchant service X-Charge as they're the only ones we currently integrate with for online payments. I will provide some links below as reference resources regarding this topic.

Patient Portal - What the Patient Sees: http://www.opendental.com/manual/portalpatientsees.html
Patient Portal - Online Payments: http://www.opendental.com/manual/portal ... ments.html

Hope this helps! :-)

I already read about the system. Was more curious if anybody is using it. You have to add a link to your website that links to the patient portal. The patient then has to click the payment link and can then finally pay. If you could go straight to payments and skip the paymnent portal it would be easier if you dont use the patient portal. Add confusion to patients. So was looking to see if anybody else actually was using it?

The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.

how would the patients payment be linked to their account without the portal? You would need a script to match the patient name and address to one in your OD database, and if the address is a work address then you wouldnt get a match. Have them enter their ID number in addition to the name/amount? I guess that could work.
