Current recomendations Re: ERA and eligibility

Post by ramzi » Thu Jan 26, 2017 2:44 am

I am looking for advise on 2 things to better understand how OD currently utilizes this to improve workflow.

1. I currently use an outdated (13.1.42) version of OD.

2. Id like to implement EFT/ERA as well as real time patient insurance eligibility at my office for efficiency (assuming its more efficient)

3. i use WebMD (emdeon, change) for electronic claims

4. is there someone who can LMK what the most current version of OD can offer and pros and cons to using EFT/ERA and eligibility?

if its easier to talk to someone at OD happy to call, but I no longer purchase support from OD and would have to if I decide to upgrade and use it

thanks

You'll need to upgrade to get the ERA functionality, which will mean going back onto support. Emdeon/Change Healthcare does offer ERA support built into Open Dental, and it works quite well.

I'm not the biggest fan of Real Time Eligibility and Benefits. The information that is returns is overwhelming and still requires a lot of leg work to make sense of. It's worth looking into, however be super critical of whether it will add value to your practice.
