OD, Win10 and PDF

Post by babysilvertooth » Thu Jan 12, 2017 8:50 am

When i am in referral mode and create a referral slip, and 'create PDF" OD opens my Adobe Reader, but where does it save this file? I need to email this but can't find it, and Adober Reader doesn't give me an option to save somewhere else

I believe it saves in the local users TEMP directory with some horrible name that's practically all random numbers and such. You'd be better off just clicking the Print / Email button instead of the Create PDF button. Then you can just set the number of printed slips desired to 0 and none should print out but it will let you designate some email addresses to send to.

Jsalmon's solution only works if you have email setup within OpenDental and you aren't concerned about sending the referral insecurely. When we create a PDF from a referral, we have to option to "save as". The keyboard shortcut for save as is Ctrl-Shift-S. If that doesn't work and you want another workaround, you can install PDFcreator or any print to PDF program you want and then "print" the referral directly to a PDF.

Right, you should always send PHI via encrypted email:
