OD capabilities for dr's websites

Post by ForrestGumpDDS » Mon Oct 10, 2016 10:15 am

Hello,
I'm re-designing my website and at the stage of contemplating the results with the people who will help me on this.
From the technical point of view, what are the possibilities that OD can do for someone's website? I know, the question is very vague, but I'm not looing for the precise answer, rather the ideas that you at one point had. As well as something, that might be changing in the future on that matter (some new features maybe?).
So far I use links to my patient's forms, I'm aware of online scheduling, but not using it, also I was thinking of putting the block with "health portal" link.
Any other ideas?
From UX and/or technical point of view, maybe someone can recommend me an example of a bright design for the small dentist office website that you came across one day? I searched quite a bit, went over a few dozens. There were good ones, and not so good, but did not find something that I could say "Wow! This is simple, clean and efficient one!"
Thank you.

Open Dental's eServices are the tools that patients would use to communicate back in to Open Dental. Some of these services would be appropriate to intgrate into your website if you choose. http://opendental.com/manual/eservices.html

You should definitely consider web forms. They are included in your monthly support and allow your patients the ability to fill in their paperwork at home and have the information import directly into their charts. http://opendental.com/manual/webforms.html

You may also want to provide a patient portal for your patients to securely message you. Patients can also view and pay their balances online. http://opendental.com/manual/patientportal.html

The other services are not really suitable for placement on a website, as they are designed to directly target patients via text messaging and/or email.

Thank you, Arna.
I do use forms.
I do NOT use online scheduling or patient portal.
Do I understand it correctly that on my side I do not need to use https when I have eServices components embedded to my website?
I would like to build the support of online scheduling and patient portal at this time when the template gets built (or modified).
One of the companies that sell the templates was asking me to specify the features that I need on my website. What do I have to tell them about specific requirements for the patient portal and/or online scheduling?
