We have used PayConnect and ClaimConnect for 10 years without any issues. The best reason to use Payconnect is the direct link from inside OD's payment window. One issue that does not seem to affect us yet is that we are not using a smart chip reader for our transactions

The smart chip reader is not mandated. All that transition did was shift the responsibility from the bank to the one taking payment if there are fraudulent transactions.
Whilst this is still a risk in dentistry, the risk is much smaller than general retail as you know your patients and are constantly checking ID.

I agree the risk is very low for a dental office that is not using the smart chip. I am sure sooner or later the PayConnect plugin will catch up with the new technology. But for now the benefits of the integration in the OD patient account is well worth the minimal risk.

I do know that PayConnect engineers have been working very hard to finalize a PCI compliant product. They'll be online with chip readers at some point too.
