Choose database

Post by Jorgebon » Tue Apr 26, 2016 5:03 am

A couple of weeks ago the computer I had designated as server started to give me some problems indicative of a soon to die computer. I transferred the database to another computer on my network and everything is fine except that one of the computers in the network insists on choosing the old server as the one with the database. Every day I enter the name of the correct computer so it can connect. All the other computers "learned" the new server name, why won't this one?

OK, I think I got it. I went into Setup / Database on that computer and changed the settings to point to the new server. I think it worked.

You may need to run Open Dental as Admin to get those changes to stick. The server name and database name write to the freedentalconfig.xml file. Sometimes your .exe does not have enough permission to make the changes to the file.
