Gmail error

Post by Jorgebon » Tue Oct 13, 2015 11:46 am

I have been getting an intermittent error in OD version 15.3.11 when trying to send confirmations through gmail. The error reads:

The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication Required. Learn more at Patient: name of patient appears here.

I googled the error and I tried every possible solution, but the error still comes up. There are some recommendations on what to do if you are signing in from an app or program that you wrote, and maybe somebody at Open Dental can check it out. I did not have any problems until I changed my password to my gmail account. After that, the error comes up sometimes. I did make the change in Open Dental to the email settings and it has the correct password. It even works sometimes, so the password is correct.

Open Dental is considered a less secure app by Google, so you may need to add the exception to Gmail to allow less secure apps.
