Too easy to delete an appointment

Post by sam-I-am » Tue Jun 16, 2015 4:04 am

The other day we accidentally deleted a completed appointment. As the appointment was for an uncharged office visit, it would not have been found if I hadn't remembered the patient had been in, when I was writing charts at the end of the day.

To make matters worse, this does not seem to show in the regular audit trail. And you can't check the appointment audit trail...its been deleted!

If the 'delete' button could be given a bit of real estate away from the "OKAY" button, perhaps this might not happen as easily. Having deleted appointments showed in the audit trail would be nice too. :)

I agree. It's too easy to click. But you should also be getting a delete confirmation pop up.

Even if a completed appointment gets deleted, it does not affect completed procedures which are the things that are used in most (if not all) reports regarding uncharged items. The only thing that would have been odd would have been the gap in your schedule earlier in the day / week from the missing appointment.

It absolutely does. It is logged under the AppointmentEdit permission. The log text will end with the word "Deleted"

I couldn't agree more. Having the Delete button that close to the OK button is extremely odd. We typically try to keep the delete button in the lower left of the window.

Somehow, the deleted appointment never showed in the log...don't know why, as I know, from a printout at the beginning of the day, that the appointment was in there.

In any event, moving the deleted key would be nice. Should this be a 'feature request'?

I just double checked to make sure that all places that can delete appointments are making a security log and they are. The only way I see you not getting a log when deleting an appointment would be from using an older version of OD (that I'm not looking at), deleting the appt from a plugin, or someone manually ran a query?

It never hurts to add feature requests. However, I've already started the ball rolling on this to see anyone has good ideas on how to manipulate the window to get the Delete button away from the OK button. That window is at maximum size and is packed to the brim so we're bouncing ideas around right now. We try not to play musical buttons too much because users get in a groove and fly through windows and I'd feel bad moving the delete button into a place where someone wasn't expecting the delete button to me.

We've decided on a plan of action and have deemed it a bug. The changed will be available in one of the next few releases of version 15.2.

Awesome. You guys have always been the most responsive company I've ever seen, when it comes to taking care of your users.

This bug fix will be released with v15.2.9 (which I plan on releasing later today).

I really like our business model when it comes to bug fixes. Not very many companies have such a rapid release cycle.
