New York State Dentists...

Post by sam-I-am » Mon Jan 05, 2015 4:35 am

Just wondering what sort of solutions that dentists in New York are planning to use for electronic prescribing of controlled substances...the March deadline is coming up.

It's the same as it was last month when you asked. We're ready to certify and are getting it scheduled. It will be done before March.

We passed our certification a while ago but there have been some additional requirements that have recently been put into place that we as a software company are being required to meet in addition to what we were expecting and it is taking more time than anticipated. Luckily enough, we were notified recently that the New York legislature has approved a bill to delay the I-STOP ePrescribing mandate for controlled and non-controlled substances for 1 year, until 3/27/2016.

I don't think the governor has signed the bill yet, although I can't imagine why he wouldn't, as the state has also not completed a requirement of the law, that I-stop be integrated into Electronic-Rx.

I (and I'm sure the other New York dentists) do appreciate you guys staying on top of all this!

I agree. I can't imagine that the bill will not get signed. Nevertheless, we are still working frantically to meet the deadline just in case.

The governor just signed the bill.

As Jason said, we are still working on this feature, however the extension will give our providers some time to comply and learn the new feature as it rolls out.
