Is there a way to archive treatment plans?

Post by jourdo » Sat Feb 22, 2014 7:25 am

You know the situation. You recommend different treatment plans and the patient decides to go with option A, B, or C. If the patient decides to go with B, is there a way to keep A & C in their chart somehow, but not have them show up in the active treatment chart? I find the charts get quite cluttered with multiple options. Is there a quick/easy way to clean this up?

Sure there is. Just name and save it in the Tx Plan module. It will remain there even if you complete or delete the procedures.
For example, you can tx plan a 3-unit bridge and implant/abutment crown to replace tooth #3. Save both tx plans. All the procedures will show in the Default Tx Plan. After the pt decides which one to do, you can delete the other procedures from the chart - that won't delete the saved tx plan.

I know exactly what you are talking about - you want the history to show you offered it as an option but don't want to sift thru accepted vs proposed all mixed thru the years. What we do on patients with a lot of TX Plans in their tab is rename it "NOT CHOSEN- bridge #2-5 from 12/15/2013" then we change the date to 01/01/2020 so the ones not taken are always grouped at the end of the list. So when you look at that patient's TP tab, only the ones accepted show at the top in ascending date order. We always put the actual TP date the option was given as the last thing in the description when we change it to Not Chosen so it is easy to find it in the 01/01/2020 group late if needed.

We also put the TP as a narrative in the AutoNote in the Progress Note as a back up. That catches data entry errors on the Tooth Chart and it is easier for the doctor to quickly see all the options he gave at a previous appt without sifting thru the TPs or tooth chart which may cover one option with the graphic for another option.

Archiving would be nice.
