Windows XP is toast??

Post by Tom Zaccaria » Fri Nov 01, 2013 4:37 am

IT guy is telling me that as of April 2014 HIPPA will no longer allow Windows XP to be running personal data. Windows 7 pro will be the minimum.
He does not like Windows 8. Sounds dire to me.

Let me throw this out to the OpenDental community for comment(s).
Anybody hear anything on this?

We are in the middle of a two day upgrade to our system and half our workstations are running Windows XP.

Time to upgrade all our old XP machines to Win 7.

Just read that Office 365 and now also Google Apps have Hipaa compliant versions. Is anyone using either of them?

windows 8.1 with Classic Shell. Very similar to Win7 (or even with XP menus). If you're going to upgrade, go for the latest. No point in switching again when Win7 gets EOL'ed.

Yes, the newest classic shell is even better than just a few months ago. Works very nicely and windows 8.0 and 8.1 are much faster and less resource hungry over windows 7.
