multiple provider office, different fees?

Post by babysilvertooth » Tue Sep 10, 2013 9:27 am

I have a specialist in my office, some of his fees are higher than mine. Is there a way to have his fees automatically come up when things are treatment planned or scheduled if he is selected as provider?

For example, for staff to TP a multiple extraction case, they have to go in and change the fee on each item. OR when someone calls to schedule their visit, there is the added step to make sure the fee is changed to that providers fee.

Thanks

If you go to "Lists/Providers" you can change what fee schedule is used for that provider.

Open Dental will chart procedures with the fees in the fee schedule assigned to the patient's primary provider.
If you do treatment plan procedures for a patient and need to fees to reflect the different fee schedule, you have two options:
1. Change the Primary Provider in the Family Module
2. Assign a Fee Schedule in the Family Module

Both of these cases are not ideal, as you will need to change the fee schedules or providers back to their original state, but what this allows you to do is to 'Update Fees' in your Treatment Plan Module to reflect the specialist fees.

The other option you have is to manually adjust the fees for your specialist, however depending on how often your specialist visits your office, this may be a considerable amount of work.

There is a Feature Request that would be beneficial to offices such as yours: Feature 1147. Surprisingly (I say that because it seems to be an issue for a few offices) there are only 5 votes on it. I would highly recommend you vote on this request, as it would be beneficial to your office.

Please throw a few votes on feature request 1147 if possible...

We are a pediatric office with a GP working here 2 days a week. We have a specialist fee schedule and a general fee schedule for most insurances. There is no easy way to update these without manual input. This is a huge error prone situation for us. To add to the complexity the GP's pay is based off estimated Ins + estimated Patient pay. If the fee schedule isn't updated correctly the GP's pay is incorrect as well as the write-off will need to be manually corrected once the EOB is received.

For example, there needs to be a category for fee schedules.

Delta, General
Delta, Specialist A
Delta, Specialist B
Etc.
Etc.

When creating or updating a provider you can then associate the appropriate category of fee schedules to each provider.
Then when you drag a patient to the providers column it will update the schedule automatically as it currently does with provider changes.

The current situation is very very labor intensive.

Thanks and please help!
