Touch Monitors?

Post by troyr » Fri Jun 07, 2013 1:29 pm

Is anyone using medical-grade touch monitors in the op, running Open Dental? Are there any known issues with operating the functions within OD on the monitors without having to resort to the mouse?

I have been using all-in-one touch screens for 2.5 years now. Fat-finger syndrome galore, but you will make less and less errors as time goes by. OD buttons are just too small in my opinion. The second issue is your arm will get tired. Switch to x-ray, enhance image to my liking, diagnose, switch to OD, enter diag, switch back, etc. To combat fatigue, a wireless kb/mouse combo like the Adesso works wonders.

Glad to hear that OD does indeed work with the touch monitors. I spoke to one of the support techs & he really didn't know for sure if the program did. The fatigue makes perfect sense with having to switch back & forth. What size monitors do you work off of in the ops? And are you running off Windows 7 or 8? Thanks for your response!

I have the Lenovo A700 and B520 All-in-Ones mounted on the light poles. The op light is instead ceiling mounted. The AIOs can swivel 270 degrees around the chair. They are 23 inchers.
I prefer to use the touch screen rather than the Adesso wireless KB/mouse. I just go for the Adesso if I get tired, which isn't too often.
They run win7.
