Computer suggestion please

Post by fishdrzig » Thu Jun 06, 2013 8:38 am

Anyway I have a Dell precision(32 bit) that I have been using to run my Peer to Peer network for about 4-5 years now and think I am in need of a new one. I have 5 other computers on the wired network, 3 Optiplex running Windows XP and one HP laptop running Windows 7 Pro (64bit) and a wireless dell dimension running Ubuntu for fun.

What would you order to replace. In light of all the Dell noise and Windows 8 stuff, not sure what would be best. Thanks for the help. My PM is Open Dental.

Fishdrzig, this is an opendental forum. You better be using OD as your PM :-)
Any cheapo computers will do. Hell, people on this forum even bought used computers from ePray (I do not recommend ePray. You are playing with confidential info, do not risk viruses and rootkits.) Win8 is fine, there are utilities to make win8 pretty close to win7. I dont use ethernet anymore. Wireless is the way to go. Just get a good stable router.

I am using an HP touchsmart all in one in the hallway of our office outside the tx rooms. Works great.
