Every time I login to one of my workstations, I get the "Choose Database" window (http://www.opendental.com/manual/choosedatabase.html)
Every time I log in, I check the box that says "Do not show this window on startup (this computer only)" yet it still shows up every time. I can successfully log in.
Is there any way I can get rid of this pop-up window?
Disabling the "Choose Database" window on startup
Re: Disabling the "Choose Database" window on startup
Run Open Dental as administrator.
Open Dental needs read write permissions to a file on your computer and it sounds like it doesn't have the correct permissions to change the value.
The file in particular is the FreeDentalConfig.xml located in your Open Dental installation path. Most commonly: C:\Program Files (x86)\Open Dental\

That worked great, thank you!
Re: Disabling the "Choose Database" window on startup
I was trying to beef up security a few months ago. One of the things I did was to add a root password to MySQL, just to realize last week, that the root password gets stored in plain English in this FreeDentalConfig.xml file on every computer... Is there a chance that it will get somehow encrypted in a future version?
Thanks.

There is a chance, and putting votes towards Request #2123 will increase that chance.
Note that even if the password is encrypted, launching Open Dental will log them in as the MySQL "root" user and they can run queries within there. That is why we typically just leave the password blank and have "MySQL security" within Open Dental. However, I agree that it's not good to have any password in plain text in any file on the computer.
