A-Z Folder

Post by savvy » Sat Dec 08, 2007 12:23 pm

"A-Z Folder: Multiple locations on one virtual database are be able to set the A-Z folder path for each workstation separately."

Can someone give me an example why one would want to implement this feature?

I do not understand what this actually means.

Cheers!!

Sure. If you have two offices. They each have their own database, but the databases are identical and continuously synchronized. Both offices are connected via a VPN so that it is like one big network where you can see all the other computers at both offices. So each workstation connects to the database that is at the same physical location. They do this for speed, because they could just as easily connect to the other database, but it would be too sluggish. There are also 2 separate A-Z folders, one at each office. This new feature allows each workstation to specify the A-Z folder that is at their physical location. This is for speed. They could connect to the other A-Z folder, but large images would load very slowly.
