SMS Texting bridge

Post by Tauqir » Tue Dec 18, 2012 2:30 pm

Hi,
I know OD has the ability to text using Callfire but as Callfire do not do international texts its of no use to me a i am in the UK.
I was thinking that maybe i could create my own bridge to use a service by http://www.textlocal.com who can send texts worldwide. They provide details of the integration on their website.
Just wondered how difficult it is to integrate into OD. I'm not a programmer but quite willing to learn.
Thanks for your help

Correct me if I'm wrong but most of SMS gateway provide simple APIs to send and receive messages. It can be .NET APIs, HTTP request, web service, etc. My suggestion is to check the APIs from your preferred provider and create a plugin to do so. The plugin document is available on Open Dental website.

Cheers
M

I am a .net developer and have a good comfort level with sms technology. If this is still needed, I could create a plugin. Please contact me at ZULFIQARSYED AT YAHOO DOT COM.

And I would love to program it for this community.

Also, are their any other existing sms texting bridge that work really well? If they do are you happy with the cost?

I will have the SMS plugin which support DirectSMS(AUS), TextLocal(UK) and SMSGlobal ready very soon. Just waiting a few more hook from OpenDental. It's free, if you need more info or other SMS provider support, please let me know.

I think you can create a google voice bridge yourself. There's a thread in this forum for that. Look like Google Voice does not have a great support in Australia :)

My sms plugin now support NeonSMS too, thank to the support from a Ireland dentist.

It can also:
- send text message to patients
- send confirm sms
- send recall sms
- receive patient reply, add reply content to commLog and update appointment status (only work with DirectSMS for now)

Contact me if you want to try
