Ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Focusing-De ... 2a1df32ee3

Or

picusmall
http://www.picusmall.com/product_detail_743.html

Advice. It takes 3 weeks for the camera to arrive. The office that bought this had the mailman come by on friday.. office was closed.. mailman left a notice. At this point you have 24 hours to pick up the item from the post office or it goes back to china. That is what happened. That took another 3 weeks.. Then another 3 weeks to have china ship another one...

Ship it to your house! Use the mailbox.

Call me for Capture Button Support! I charge $110.00 per hour.. Will take about 10 minutes or maybe more per operatory.. If we move fast. :D Or you can all your IT guy and still get charged something.. Or if you are savvy and good with reading my ReadMe.. You can do it yourself...
Here is the SDK I used.
http://www.pudn.com/downloads102/source ... 16018.html

The first hour is mandatory.. I do not bill by the minute.. Keep in mind, I have only used this camera for 2-3 hours getting to know it, and how to modify its driver, etc, and all that fun stuff.

Save yourself $400 and having to pay anyone to make it work. I bought several of these and they work flawlessly with apteryx/dr suni and probably any other software you want to use it with. Pictures are just as good as $3k+ camera I used in the past.

The old HK-780? I have some of those.. I would not tell everyone to buy those and expect them to work, with a capture button, with all software. That is a UVC Camera that can do still image button events. There is a mode 2 and a mode 3. Sonix chipset last I looked. Unless they moved it to Empia. They sensor is not 4.0 MP.

The really really old HK-780 has the Arksoft Chip... That camera works great with Apteryx.. Apteryx works with still image capture if you configure it, and update the direct video extension. The latest XDR does I think, but do not quote me on that. Dexis 10 supports the ability to go from Capture pin to Still Pin, but I would test the button.. Should work. If you do not have that, I would not expect it to work, unless you want to use Twain... I have looked for a sonix sdk, but cannot find it for that camera. If I could we would have more control over the capture button...

http://www.iridology-camera.com

They say it does 4.0MP but it does not. It uses scaling to get higher then standard definition.. ie 640x480 or 720x580, etc..

I wouldn't buy it.. Especially since the optics on the newer magenta's are better, AND they come with Empia.

All the MD-70, 930, 960 cameras made after 09/2012 seem to have Still Pin with working capture button events. They are different camera's compared to the manual focus on the MD-830UF.

I have all cameras man.

Subject: HK-780 Driver

A guy I know in chile needs the driver, and I can get it for him from a client of mine, but I thought I would let you guys know that the HK-780 Driver link on your site has been dead for awhile… The one from irismake.com

I would like to talk to you about these cameras. Lets keep in contact. I REALLY like this camera and the CAM-740 from Magenta and I have a hard time decided which has the highest resolution that is not scaled, and which camera will be possible to work as a joystick. The capture button on these cameras should emulate a joystick, if it did, you would sell these puppies like hot cakes.

Try the EP40.. For people with Sonix and or any UVC camera. The latest MD-740,930,960 should work as well. Though who knows what you would get from ebay..

Looks like you definitely know your stuff, a lot more than I do for sure. I only posted that camera because I find so many of my colleges are blown away that such a cheap camera can take such good pics. I have gone through a few that failed after a few years, but for $150, I can afford to throw a lot of them away.

Justin. Thanks for your posts. Which one do you recommend for XDR that has the capture button functionality? Do you have an Ebay link?

I would.. probably get the MD-960U or the MD-830UF

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-New-USB-De ... 1049843977

These have the Empia 2860.
960U is an auto focus, 830UF has a manual focus.

100 dollars and I will install the capture button software on all the computers. Though in XDR.. it may just work.. with the latest version..

Or if you have the MD-740 or MD-930U (2585) then you will have to use my capture button software.. As it is the only one I know of for that chip.

Thanks. Do you think the MD960U will have Windows 8 64-bit support?

So, for Apteryx is this still the one you recommend (a year later)? I can't tell from your recent driver posts which camera is recommended now.

And can we get it without the audio track?

I have Apteryx and got the 930U. It works fine and replaces the Claris 310D that died.

Yep.. the 930U has the same image as the 960 but less heat because it uses an Empia 2580 instead of an Empia 2860.

The Empia 2860 is a more fully functional chip (comes with a driver, sdk is easier, and the driver also has twain)

The Empia 2580 is meant to be driverless. It follows the USB Video Specification. It works.. but you configure this camera as a Still Pin camera.. And if the software using the camera knows how to read a Still Pin Hardware Trigger, then it will work. If not you can use the capture software.

The Empia 2580 chip and the MD740 and 930 have color filter issues with Dexis 9 and 8. Beware.

Hope this was informative!

I happen to have a MD930 out in my car. :) I think the 930 may last longer because of the EM2580 generating less heat.. But who knows! I prefer to work with the MD960U if its Eaglesoft, Dexis, Dentrix Image.

But with Apteryx.. Apteryx is awesome and can even use the 960U without my capture button software as well. Same with the 930. 930 is set for Still Pin, 960U would be the capture pin.

The 830UF\840 is the best image.

Afraid not! :D That was the song on the radio when I drove to that office. I decided that would be the song in the video. I am moody like that! :D Looking back this song doesn't sound as good.. but oh well.

I could use Alice n Chains.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUVVDg8GQLw

Here is a new claiming 5.0mp. That would be a significant increase from the 2.0mp. What do you think?

I have yet to see an ebay cam that is cheap that is over 1.3MP. 640x480.

I have seen a lot of cams advertised as higher, and some even APPEAR to do higher then 640x480, but they end up just upscaling the image which looks horrible. Give it a go...

Have you installed that?

After that it's a little funky. I believe you would choose the USB 2860 Video as the capture button option. Twice. :D You will see. You also want to be sure not to use a Still Pin.

Apteryx works well with the MD-960U.

Thank you Justin

I have indeed installed http://www.apteryxware.com/files/downlo ... grader.EXE

but I don't have a USB 2860 option in the capture button menu.

I do have an EM2800, EM2820 and a USB 2820 option, but the capture button does not work with those. I'm running Apteryx version 3.12.0.38

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the assist and happy holidays

Justin (or anyone),
I just bought a cheapy IO camera on Amazon (link below). When I connect it to a USB port, Windows 7 loads the drivers, and I am able to see an image in Dexis 9.3.0, however it appears to only have ?256? colors in the image. When I load in their mini disc and install the application, I am able to see the full array of colors through their cheap video application. I recall you saying something about Dexis having trouble with colors with certain sensors.

Is this a dead-end and I should return it or is their some way to get this one working correctly in Dexis?

That is a directshow problem with Dexis 9.3, fixed in Dexis 10.0... So either upgrade Dexis or get the MD-960U or... Try ManyCam but I dislike that idea.
