New Appt/Note Creation Behavior (beta 12.3)

Post by drtech » Mon Sep 24, 2012 2:44 pm

We Do NOT like the new behavior of skipping the pt appt windows before creating an appt as it makes it VERY cumbersome to create a pt NOTE on the appt book like we do all the time in our office. Can this be an option to choose if you want it to appear or not? That way people who do not use notes will like it the way it is and we can go back to how we would rather have it. Thanks

I'm pretty sure it just got renamed to "View Pat Appts" because of the new "Make Appt" button. That button should have the same functionality that the prior "Make/Find Appt" had.

I edited the source code directly to go back to the old way temporarily, but if you could make a preference for users to choose on double click of the appointment book to either, 1) go right to an appt (new behavior) or to bring up the "view pt's appts" window (old behavior).

Thanks

Okay, I'm talking with Dr. Sparks about this. We try our best to not "take away" previous functionality so I'd imagine something's going to be done about this. I'll keep you posted.

great...I think it was a good idea to try to create appointments faster and some may like it, but in practice I don't think it works because:

1) You skip reviewing the pt appts before scheduling a new one. This results in not knowing at all if the pt had a planned appointment for what you want that you should have scheduled or if the pt has a past broken appts you should have rescheduled. You will end up with just new appointments only and skip previous planning.
2)It is much harder to create notes with out changing to the pt, clicking the new button and then dragging it from the pinboard.

We make notes all the time as well. But we just use regular appointments for our notes rather than the special appointment type. I guess I've never really understood the need for doing it your way. As for the number of clicks, I'm only counting one additional click as well as the possibility of forgetting what time you wanted to place it at.

In the end, I would rather keep in the new way because it reduces clicks for the vast majority of users.

ok, I will have to put it back to the old way with a plugin? I can't imagine people would want to do it that way and loose the functionality of seeing planned appointments before created a new appt? That defeats the purpose of some of the design you have built into the program to manage appointments. But if lots like it then just have an option to choose in setup to go back to the way it was and NOT LOOSE A FEATURE.

Using regular appointments for notes is very confusing. We would only use appointments for when the pt is expected to arrive. We typically have 10-30 other notes on the book for keeping track of things, etc. VERY essential for keeping track of items...now if the task list with working date sensitive property could be enhanced to make it work I think that would take over many of our notes and help clutter a lot, but for now, that is the only way we have found to keep from loosing track of dated tasks about pts.

I am just asking to place a PREFERENCE for the use to choose which way they want it back to the way it was so you are not taking a feature away. That way I don't have to spend hours figuring out again how to add the appt module to my pluging and figure out how to make hooks work again. No one else has to choose this if they don't want to...just make it default to your new behavior. All it would take is adding a preference to the database and then adding one if statement and uncommenting the part you commented out ContrAppt.cs line 3607. Line 3608 to 3633 is the new way.
