Dual Insurance Claim Question.

Post by jourdo » Thu Aug 09, 2012 11:37 am

I'm not sure if this is just a random situation or if it is a setting I need to tweak somewhere, but any help would be appreciated.

This happens when a patient has more than one insurance plan. Sometimes when we set the appointment complete and send the primary claim, a secondary form will automatically create and print itself out without us doing anything. Other times, we have to create it manually. Is there a rhyme or reason to this?

It would sure make life easier to have the automatic situation every time this comes up.

Is there something I need to do in the settings to make this happen?

Open Dental should automatically create a secondary claim if the primary and secondary insurance plans are set up correctly. Do you remember a patient that had this issue? If so, go into the Family Module. Double click on secondary insurance. Make sure the 'Order' has a 2 not a 1. Then chart a test procedure, and try to repeat the claim creation process.

I'll get the staff to pay attention to when/if it happens.
