Letters and merge

Post by sandi » Fri Jun 29, 2012 2:04 pm

I note OD has no ability to cut and paste text into letters. If the merge is used persumably this allows cut and paste into word. Does closing the document save it automatically into ODs database of letters or does it have to be manually done.
Thanks

Yes, you can cut and paste into letters if you give yourself a textbox on the sheet to paste into.

Great, if I go the other way and towards word, does open dental save the documents automatically?

It's been a long time since I looked at that part of the program. I think the answer is no.

Thnaks for that Il have a look this weekend. I think that the letter functionalites major weakness is that the letters dont scale like word.
If the letter drags to two pages then the signature doesnt follow?
Or if its a one line letter then the signature is right at the page end with a large gap between? Am I missing something?

True, it wouldn't scale to two pages. But your second example is supported by Open Dental. Your sheet def would have a fairly short section for the letter. Then, as long as the text box is set to have a growth behavior, then it will push the signature box down as it grows.
