Card Scanner Recommendation

Post by Rickliftig » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:55 am

I'm looking for a scanner for Insurance cards and driver's licenses (to be used at the front desk). TWAIN compliance is a necessity.

Thanks in advance.

Rick, the Epson GT-S50 works perfectly for us in this application. You just adjust the guides to the size of the card.

i use the epson gts50 also works in a flash, goes straight into od. we also use it for drivers license and crop the photo for the pts picture. it runs about 400-450 last time i checked. I have 2 of them and have had them for approximately 3 years...no issues. I also have the snap scan from fujitsu . both scanners are approximately equal except snap scan doesnt have drivers..... hope that helps

Thanks for the recommendations. There's not much room at the front desk any more. We have a Brother multi-function at the front which scans fairly well, but I felt that a small one, set up for drivers licenses and insurance ids would work better.

We've used the AmbirScan duplex card scanners:

Canon P-215 works excellent, fast sheet feed and card reader (driver's license , credit card, insurance card, etc..) comes with twain driver, had some trouble with paper stacks if thin paper that sticks together.
