Post by Jay » Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:31 am

Does anyone here use 1 800 dentist service and/or their reminder system? Any suggestions/experiences about both aspects? thanks.

Have you seen their ads? They claim to screen dentists etc and their dentists are supposedly somehow superior. I don't have any experiences with them but that kind of advertising their service to patients will not win me over.

We use it for referrals but not reminders. Service is dubious at best.
The only screening we went through is, "do you want to sign up with us?"

used it for 3 months... they will charge you per patient lead. we had only a 30% show rate for patients that 1800 screened. you will get people calling but our experience was that they were poor quality patients.mainly one time emergency patients.

ask them to do a 90 day trial and see how it works for you

we had a similar experience. either patients didn't show or they had no idea what our fees were and had no money or insurance or were on plans we didn't take. all of this info was supposed to be included in the screening process to ensure that we got patients that understood our fees for initial/emerg exam and the insurance we accept. it was a very bad experience for us.

We still use their email reminder service (formerly dental senders). It works good. The patient's really like the reminders. I inquired about the 1-800 referral service but that was very pricey and still doesn't guarantee the patient will agree to treatment.

I've been a client of theirs for about 10 years now and love it overall. Admittedly, one reason it works well for us is our monthly fee is a LOT lower than the average - only $870/month. We were grandfathered in when Dental Referral Services was bought out by 1800Dentist , so our ROI is big.

Would I sign up for their "per-patient" lead service? No way.

Would I sign up at the rate others pay for the old-style service, more than double ours? Not sure.

What you get are typically emergencies who are "one-offs," meaning they come in and get their emergency needs cared for, but they rarely become long-term patients. Very good for same-day production boosts, especially if you do RCT/Crown.
