Out of Memory

Post by Toothdr97 » Thu May 10, 2012 11:27 am

We scan paperwork into OD. While scanning for about 2 hours we got this error screen that stated
"Unhandeled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the appliation will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application willclose immediately.

Out of memory."

anyone ever seen this before- if so, what does it mean?

Did you look in your task manager to see what the memory situation was on your computer? How about your hard drive space?

We've been having a similar problem in our systems. When I open the task manager, OD is using an inordinate amount of memory (over 500MB). I just force OD to quit and then reopen. I figure it's some memory leak and was thinking one of the future updates would resolve it.

Added to bugs page. These can take weeks to track down.

I can say that the only thing that sticks out to me as different is that this only happens on the computer which is attached to the scanner via USB. Our network based scanning station never has this issue. ( We have two scanners. One USB the other Network)

Toothdr97, just though I'd let you know that this issue has been resolved as of the 12.2.x series.

Didn't the OD team recommend that we skip 7.9 awhile back?

I also get this OD error pop up when trying to open an xray, usually after working on several charts at the end of the day. I have to close OD then re-open and am able to continue to work. I don't remember what amount of memory was in use when evaluating the task manager, but I don't think the memory was full.
One of my employees uses Vista and OD will stay open in the background, consuming a large portion of memory and causing severe slowing of the pc. OD has to be killed with "end task" in order to resolve but I haven't tracked how often it happens or other associated circumstances.
This happened with 12.3 and other previous versions.
