Any way to increase security here and decrease all this annoying spam?

They're getting more brazen, too. I still think a challenge question would trip them up like, "Who is G.V. Black?"

Jay - that's funny - I had to look up the reference and assumed he was a dental icon I never heard of!
Maybe we could fool them with a question about Jordin Sparks (the cute one <G>)?

Yeah, that and CAPTCHA should do the trick.

Heck - couldn't they also create some more Administrators who can delete the crap? I'll volunteer to help.

Sorry, I went on vacation for a few days and forgot to delegate the task to someone. We'll obviously be making some changes to the forum, but it's not easy. It involves installing a whole new version, editing files, and all sorts of unpleasant stuff that seems low priority compared to the software improvements. But it clearly can't be put off any longer.

So we had to order a new server and we're waiting for it to arrive. That's why we're still getting some spam. Thanks for your patience.

OK, we've been on the new server all day now. The spam seems to have trickled off.

The recent spam is from spambots that "joined" the forum a few days ago. I don't think they've been able to join in the last few days. I think we'll institute a black list as well. The forum may be down temporarily while we make that change.
