Cone Beam Study - Data Storage

Post by jclaydds » Tue Sep 06, 2011 7:16 am

I have received a couple of Cone Beam X-ray studies from specialists. The data file for each Cone Beam study is in a directory that is about 12MB. The data folder consists of about 180 slices in individual files. Is there anyway to attach this data to a patient in Open Dental. Of course, I have on most of my patients JPEG files of a panorex, FMX< etc. attached in Open Dental in images section. Should I just store this in Windows Directory structure outside of Open Dental. The data files need the accompaning proprietary software on the disc to view them. Just wondering how others are handling the storage of these large directories/files.

I would suggest a directory structure outside of Open Dental. I think you can also create a shortcut in each patient's images module to point to this external folder.

I can't figure out how to create a shortcut in Images Module to point to a directory in Windows. I am very familiar with using the import feature to import a single file. I need this shortcut to point to a directory that contains many files. Can you give me some idea on how to create the shortcut? Thanks.
