Open Dental and Card Swipe Machine

Post by sbgcd » Wed Jul 27, 2011 10:13 am

Hello, In our office we are considering the open dental. Apart other important factors as we considering to replace the merchant services, we would like to know whether we can integrate any other card swipe then X-Charge? Can anyone help/assist? Thank you.

Thank you for the information. seems like payconnect has lot more to offer besides credit care processing. One interesting option is - Patient Eligibility and Benefit Information((Aetna, MetLife, Cigna, Delta Plans & More)).. Not sure you have this option with them and even worth it?

i just switched from xcharge to pay connect...THE AUTO CARD DEBITING(reoccurring charges) and the saved credit card info DOES NOT WORK with payconnect. the eligibility works really well with some insurances and others completely useless. You will still have to verify some info with all of them. what it doesn't do is tell you remaining benefits or frequency such as last time a pano was taken.

Hello, thanks for the input. We are in the process of several enhancements to the PayConnect integration with OpenDental including the recurring charges function. In the mean time, we can walk you through conducting those transactions on our web portal where the card information is stored securely for this purpose. Our PayConnect team can be reached at 800-576-6412 Ext. 468 and would be happy to assist you.

With regard to the eligibility and benefits response, we completely agree that some payers respond with a wealth of information and others just confirm the patient is eligible. We are working with the National Dental EDI Council (NDEDIC) and many payers to define a more robust set of information that these payers will commit to returning, thus eliminating or minimizing the need to call for additional information.

Thank you for your business and we welcome any other suggestions you might have.

thanks scott for the reply and I must say payconnect has been very proactive and very helpful.

A small request is when you make the programming changes. DO NOT CHARGE US A FEE FOR KEYED VS SWIPED CARD CHARGE. THIS WAS WHAT PROMPTED ME TO LOOK AT LEAVING XCHARGE. For those of you not aware when you run a charge from the saved information in OD xcharge charged twice the rate when it was not swiped through the reader.(this may not be true in your case but when i called and asked why my fees went up they said it was because of the keyed charges)

They have to charge you more because the bank charges more.

it was explained to me its not just the swipe its the amount of information that's transmitted from the saved data. payconnect if i go through their web portable to set autobilling it doesnt charge me a keyed rate. Also when i was using intuit for monthly billing they didnt charge me either...

Oh, I see. You are asking them to implement it a particular way rather than complaining about it currently being wrong.

Has anyone switched from using Intuit (QuickBooks) for card swiping to payconnect or xchange?

Sorry for the delayed response, but I wanted to double check and make sure I was providing correct information. In a stored card transaction, we don't have complete control of the rate charged by a particular card issuer. The key is to provide as much information as possible in order to get the best rate. What I mean by this is if you only store and send the card number and expiration date, you will most likeley be charged the highest (Non-Qualified) rate for the transaction. However, if you also enter the cardholder address and CVV number, you will generally get the lower (Mid-Qualified) or lowest (Qualified) rate. By using the PayConnect online virtual terminal, you have the ability to store this information securely at the time you set up the recurring charge giving you the best opportunity for the lowest rate. I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact our PayConnect specialists at 800-576-6412 Ext. 468 for more information.
