Is it possible to synchronise two databases into one single synchronised database??

Yes. First, you would require us to combine the two databases into one. Our conversion team does that for a small charge. Then, you could set up replication.

A few offices have done it successfully, but I really think they would have been happier with Terminal Services solution

It's just so complicated. And you have to really know what to do if it malfunctions and they get out of synch. You have to know how to pick apart the log files and run the missing queries. You have to know how to manage the database and how to spot integrity problems. We try to steer users to other solutions unless they have very slow or intermittent internet connections.
