version 7.6

Post by Jorgebon » Thu Mar 03, 2011 2:08 am

We updated to version 7.6.26 and my front office is telling me that the behavior of the SELECT PATIENT window has changed. They tell me that now the search results include more patients because when they enter a name or last name it will find anyone with the same letter combination anywhere in the name. For example, if they write "VERA" in the last name, they get RiVERA, TalaVERA, LaVERA, and anything with the letters VERA in the name besides the intended result which was just plain VERA. Is there a way to limit or expand the search results?

The other problem we've had is that when you print progress notes they sometimes get cut off at the end of the page. I know this was an existing bug that was to be fixed, but it's not listed for version 7.6 anymore. As luck would have it, Humana is coming to my office next Tuesday to audit my records, and they will want copies of the progress notes.

It happens only with some patients that have several pages of notes. The last note in one of the pages either prints with the bottom part of the letters cut off or doesn't print the line at all. Jordan tells me that the bug was fixed for 7.8, so the problem is only temporary until you update.

The select patient will now search for any last name containing the text in the search criteria when it is more than three letters. Three letters and less only gives you names starting with that text. This is a new features.

As for the progress notes sometimes cutting off text, this is fixed but not released yet in versions 7.7.17 and 7.8.2.

Too bad about the search patient new feature. I liked it better the way it was. It's more logical to get fewer results when you add more letters.

Maybe we should have made it an option. It seemed like a great idea at the time.

I think it just takes some getting used to. I do have to type more characters to narrow to the person I want, but maybe it's worth it if it helps avoid duplicate patients.

I think it's great. Especially when a pt gets married (we always hyphenate their names). Pt can be found even if we can't remember new last name.
