preferred name

Post by hazmat » Thu Aug 19, 2010 10:23 am

Is there any way to use the preferred name and not have it show up on statements (I use Dental Xchange). Not only do we use it for nick names but we also use it for pronunciation of trickier names.

It shouldn't be showing up. You must be using an older version.

Ok, I just updated to the most recent stable version of 7.1. However, I still see the preferred name show up the statement in parenthesis following the first name. Is this something that needs a request to fix or is there a setting somewhere I can change?

Sorry, I thought I remembered that being done a while back. If not, then it's a feature request.

I went to add some points to the request feature and saw that it has been completed. It looks like you were unable to replicate the problem and called it a bug. Should I submit another request or should I be worried about a bug?

Do you mean request #245? Preferred name was removed from the address portion. At the time, it never even occurred to us to remove it anywhere else.

Yes, request 245. I see what you are saying, the preferred name does not show up in the billing address. It does however show on the description of services provided.

Old topic but I have the same issue. We have been using the "Preferred" field to phonetically spell our patients' names for our reference only. However, this shows up on statements as well as when patients receive automated communications from our office via Yapi. I'm sure Yapi is pulling the preferred name, and could probably be changed to pull their legal name, but still is a problem for statements.

Is there a better place in OD where we could put a phonetic spelling? The nice thing about the preferred field is it displays on the top heading on OD so can easily be seen at all times.

You want to vote / pledge towards feature request #2251. You could use the Note field in the Chart module (what we do here at HQ) or you could even create a custom patient field to store the phonetic name.

The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.
