1)Appt times 2)Images folder

Post by Hersheydmd » Tue May 11, 2010 9:06 pm

Jordan,
0Hi! I'm having two issues today.

1) When I try to schedule a patient for a periodic exam (0120) and an oral cancer exam (0431) the time bar on the side turns from blue (doc time) to white (assistant time). Either one by itself is set for 20 min of doc time (2 blue squares). As soon as I add the other procedure the blue squares turn white and I end up with 20 min of assistant time. I spoke to a rep today and she couldn't get it to work any differently, even on her machine and with the latest version of OD. What's going on? It doesn't make sense.

2) When I backup I expect any images I deleted to be removed from the backup folders as well. However, when I restore from the backup all the image files I deleted are back again. I am also getting these crazy Ptname.exe files showing up in my images folders. James looked at them and doesn't know how they were created. I deleted them, but everytime I do a restore, they are back, because they don't get deleted from the backup drive when I backup. I guess what is happening is the backup is only copying new files to the backup drive, but not deleting files that were deleted from the C:\OpenDentImages folder.

1. That is the expected behavior as explained in the manual. The logic is expecting 10 minutes of asst time on each end of every procedure. You are not presenting it with what it expects. That's fine if that's what you want to do, but when you run it through the algorithm that is carefully explained in the manual, the expected result is two blocks of asst time and nothing else.

2. Tracking deletions is not a supported feature. CrashPlan handles things like this beautifully.

Jordan,
Good morning. I read the page you indicated and I understand the algorithm.
Then, how would you schedule a 20 min appt with the doctor for a periodic exam (0120) and an oral cancer screening (0431) so that it shows 20 min of doctor time and no assistant time.
It would also be nice if we could indicate doctor's time and hygienist's time in the same appointment. Then we wouldn't have to create a separate appointment for the doctor's exam. Then the exam could be scheduled in the same appt slot as the prophy/fluoride, but we would be able to see that the doctor is due in the hygiene room at a certain time.
Unless I schedule a separate appt for me for the exam, I don't know that I am due in the hygiene room.

You would do it manually. I think there's a feature request for showing dentist and hygienist time in the same appointment.

Re: Appt times and Units algorithm

That would be a good feature. What number is it? I looked for it and couldn't find it.

Jordan, the time units algorithm may work for a practice where the doctor uses more than one operatory at a time, but it doesn't work at all if you are using a single operatory.
For example: Pat A is scheduled from 9:00 to 10:00 /xxxx/.
Searching for an appointment for Pat B, the algorithm is telling me that there is an opening at 9:40. That would be fine if I was using a second operatory, as the assistant would seat the patient in the second opertory and prepare them and I would walk in at 9:50, while the assistant goes into the first operatory to dismiss Pat A and clean the room. Having only one operatory the patient can't be scheduled until 10:00. There should be a choice to search by either provider or by operatory, as two patients can't sit in the same chair at the same time.
If there is a feature request for this, what number is it?
