Deceased Patients

Post by savvy » Fri Apr 16, 2010 10:49 am

Is there a way to automatically cancel future appointments or pop up a warning that the patient has future appointments scheduled?
A patient that passed away 7 months ago, changed to Deceased at that time, had a recall card sent to them for their 8 month recall appointment.

Deceased people shouldn't show on the recall list. Only active patients can show on the recall list. I really don't know how that could possibly have happened. You are using our recall list, right? I'm 99% sure that the status of the patient could not have been deceased at the time when the postcard was sent.

Upon further consult with my front desk (new BTW), it was not a recall postcard (Sorry), the patient had an appointment scheduled.
My front desk person, dragged the cursor over the appointment, the pts info (less Deceased) appeared including phone number.
She called the, unknown to her, deceased patient's home to remind of appointment.
She left message on machine.

Ah. Yes, I agree that it would be very important for the system to warn the user of scheduled appointments if the status gets changed to deceased. I just added it to the feature request system as #1376.
