I came across an interesting problem. One procedure was attached to two different insurance claims that were sent out on different days. The insurance company paid for it twice and we actually did the procedure twice it just wasn't entered for some reason. I don't know how this happened but I caught it after the check was entered and the deposit was done making editing the claim pretty difficult. I was able to get the account and clinical records patched up, but I'm just curious how this could have happened. I thought a procedure couldn't be sent to the same insurance company more than once. The only thing I could think that happened is that by changing the complete date of the procedure allowed us to attach it to another claim. Hope this helps.
