Online Bill Pay for Patients

Post by cleiszler » Sun Aug 02, 2009 8:51 am

Does OD integrate with any program that would enable my patients to bay their bill online?

Well, we can send "e-bills" which aren't really e-bills because they just get printed at the clearinghouse. I guess the closest match to your question would be credit card payments. But no specific solution is coming to mind.

Also, I believe you can send bills as pdf attachments via your own email server. You could combine this with a paypal or similar online payment processor and add a link in the email. Would have to manually process the payments. I haven't tried this-- I'm just speculating.

You've forgotten your own features, Mr. Sparks! :)

Yes, you are right. We have email capability built in for bills. And yes, you could just include a paypal link in the emails. I forget features all the time; there are so many and my brain isn't getting any bigger.

I am currently developing/working on a Web Based Open Dental Specific accesory application which will allow patients to check accounts online, reschedule appointments, request appointments, etc. Online banking for their OD account.
Should have the first version completed in the next few months.

I will let everyone know when it is ready to try out.

Just bringing up an old topic. I was curious what current options there are for patients to make online payments to their accounts. Does x-charge or pay connect allow patients to pay directly to their accounts? That would be the most precise.

If you use eStatements from DentalXChange and our PayConnect merchant services, we can securely deliver the statement to your patients and they can choose to pay the statement online. Patients are able to store and choose from multiple payment sources (similar to PayPal) in their secure PatientConnect account. In addition they are able to send and receive messages between their provider office between their PatientConnect account and your ClaimConnect account. It's very easy to set up, and integrated with OpenDental. You can contact our account management team at 800-576-6412 Ext. 455 for more information.

Scott,

Thanks for your input. How would our office receive notification that a payment has been made? I assume by email and then the business assistant would manually enter the payment into Open Dental.

I don't know if it exists for any PM software but the ideal scenario would be for the PM software to connect with a card payment service, like pay connect, and automatically add the payment to the patient's account. This would eliminate any human error.

Hi Brian,

Currently we have the integration for the swiped transactions at the front desk to post directly into OpenDental but do not yet have that level of automation for the online patient payments. It's something we have discussed and may offer at some point in the future. All patient payments would go directly into your PayConnect merchant account and would be posted from their into OpenDental by the office staff.

One other question, are you currently using PayConnect for merchant processing? If not we'd be happy to provide you with a free rate comparison.Let me know if you would like me to set up a contact with one of our PayConnect specialists to discuss this in more detail.

Best Regards,

Scott
