Scanning in periapicals
Scanning in periapicals
Hi all
We are currently scanning in our periapicals with an epson perfection V700 photo scanner into Open dental but we are unable to get the settings right.
Have anyone done this before , Can any one help?

Re: Scanning in periapicals
Scan at 300 DPI, gray scale. You have to have a transparency adapter so the light source comes through the x-ray and does not reflect off. Gives excellent results. Microtek gives best scanning results. Let me know if this helps

Thanks.
is that the black plastic with holes for the negatives that came with the scanner?
Is there anyone with an Epson perfection V700 scanner that can help. We just scanned in the panoramics under auto with no problem but with the periapicals the images that come out are just weird........

Re: Scanning in periapicals
Drop the film holders and lay your film directly on the glass. The transparency adapter is the removable white plate on the lid that exposes the overhead light. Remove it. When using the driver select positive film. You actually have to play around with the settings to get the best result. This should get you started
Re: Scanning in periapicals
We tried to remove the cover but the results are still blur. Is there anyone from this forum who scans periapicals using the epsob scanner who can help with particular settings.
We also tried to contact epson but they claim that this scanner cannot be used for x rays

Re: Scanning in periapicals
forget the scanner, get a good viewbox and a digital camera and snap a photo of the x-ray...it is a lot faster and we get great results
Re: Scanning in periapicals
we are trying to scan all analog x rays in the practice so photos would be very time consuming & we already bought the scanner
anyone with any other ideas?
btw has anyone used the silverfast x ray program to scan before?

Re: Scanning in periapicals
you snap pano's in one shot, fmx in three, bw's in one, right in the existing film holders, don;t even need to take them out.
Takes about 10 seconds to take Left, Center, and Right photos of the FMX right in the holder on the view box. Then just open the pt folder and import your images....
Scanners usually always take longer than that to scan in my experience....but if you already bought it...hard to swallow :p
